Came here recently after awhile and this place is still holding a high standard. This is not your everyday place as it is one of the fancier restaurant in town. The building is an old bank so the inside is mainly brick and has a rustic feel. The service is very good and explained everything to us. The staff is nice and friendly. We never needed anything and they worked like a well oiled machine. The menu uses seasonal and local produce in an elegant way, so it could change every time you are there. The popular starters are the smoked salmon and brown bread. This was plated very nicely and had crumbles of different ingredients that elevated a simple dish. Another favorite is the peaches and mozzarella. If you are a peach lover, you will definitely enjoy this starter. For the small plates, the morel mushroom pappardelle was flavorful and a good vegan alternative. The larger plates are what makes this place. The go-to is the double cut pork chop. It was juicy, and the sauce really elevated the whole dish. The duck is also popular. It is most times prepared a little rare, so beware if that's not your thing. Served with fruit and salad. The various fish and steak are a great choice as well. I have had most options and it is always a hit. No matter what you choose, this place will not disappoint!
Great service, delicious 5 star food. Interior of restaurant was lackluster but who cares when the food is this great. Service was 10/10
Excellent restaurant and service in Sacramento. Unique items with a great experience. Would highly recommend.
This is one of the high end places in Sac. It lived up to the expectations. The service was amazing from the moment we showed up to the hostess desk. The ambience is super cool, an old brick building with an open kitchen. There are several tables inside and several more outside. Our waiter was knowledgeable and provided really good recommendations. There were some plates we shared and he made sure that they came already split. The food was amazing. Super tasty and plentiful. Scallops and steaks were super well done and the vegetables were perfect. Wine selection was not impressive but what we got was really good. There is a side bar that one can go and wait for the table. The bar is not that impressive but it seems to have what one needs. This bar also support cocktails order at the main room. Seems like a great idea and opportunity. However, the quality of the cocktails we were given was not great. I think the bartender that took care of us, although super friendly, is not up to date with the quality of cocktails one would expect in this type of place. Nonetheless, I would recommend to visit this establishment.
My friends and I celebrated their five year anniversary last night at Mulvaneys. Two of our party were vegan, one is pescatarian. With limited options on the regular menu the brilliant Patrick Mulvaney put together a phenomenal vegan meal for us on the spot including appetizer, pasta course, main course and dessert. The manager Tina was so kind and attentive and our server Ariel was a joy. The food was beyond delicious. I'm eating leftovers today wishing I could recreate this magical pasta dish and knowing it's impossible. Every time I come to Mulvaneys I fall in love with it again. Thank you for another beautiful evening!
Servers were very kind and the atmosphere was nice as well. Chicken Kabab - 6/10 A little dry, probably chicken breast, but it is seasoned well. It would be better if it wasn't as dry. Egg roles - 5/10 A weird flavor to them, don't know how to describe it but it's very odd, similar to blue cheese feeling. Falafel - 7.5/10 Very grainy in texture, but great flavor and the sauce on top definitely benefits it. Carnitas Taco w/ Guac, Cilantro, Onion, Cabbage, and Red Salsa - 8/10 Tastes just like in a typical Mexican restaurant but boujee, y'know? I definitely recommend it! Deep Fried Mac & Cheese - 8/10 Definitely recommend, a must try. The outside is crisp and compliments the mac & cheese very well like the crust on a usual mac & cheese. Chicken Taco w/ Guac, Cilantro, Onion, Cabbage, and Red Salsa - 7/10 The Carnitas taco was definitely better, but they are similar.
My partner and I went here for dinner tonight and it met my expectations for sure. The soup was really good, I tried the sunchoke soup. The free bread and butter was really good as well and had some sort of salt on the butter. I recommend trying the spring onion and potato tortellini because the flavor was really good and my partner got the tagliatelle which was good and meaty but I preferred my meal for sure. I definitely recommend trying this place out if you want a nice meal or are celebrating something. The service was great and the ambiance was business casual.
What a wonderful meal! I came here a couple of weeks back for Valentine's Day with my partner and we both left so pleased. It was our second time at Mulvaney's and everything was great as per usual. We made a reservation online, as I would recommend for anyone coming during dinner time just in case. It can get pretty full! We were seated promptly and greeted warmly by all staff members: the hostesses, the waiters walking by, other servers, etc. Everyone welcomed us in! We were guided around the menu and told about the specials, and decided to order one or two things from each category. I believe the house smoked salmon stays on the menu year round, and it's delicious! We ordered it last time we were here, and it's definitely a must-have. Another must have would be the spring onion tortellinis if it's still on the menu, definitely the most delicious meal of the night. All in all, a wonderful meal paired with warm, attentive service. Thank you to Mulvaney's as always!
